“Nigeria’s Minister of State for Education, Prof. Anthony Anwukah has declared that industries are rejecting graduates from Nigerian universities because the system is no longer churning out products that can meet the needs of industries.
At what point are we breaking the jinx of our university graduates not been able to meet the needs of our industries.
There is a need to introduce a re-schooling project that would serve as a bridge between university graduates and industries.”
This is a prophetic statement which underscores the expediency of PSCFM in Nigeria, now the pendulum is shifting to specialism.
“It is unfortunate that specialist higher institutions who are not university by their status are more often than not excluded from the scheme of things in our education industry. Ours is a higher specialist private institution focusing on the development of credit management profession in Nigeria.
Our market focus has shown that fresh university graduates irrespective of their courses of study are increasingly having interest in professional qualifications in credit management. Many of these fresh and older university graduates are looking to either shift to or include credit management in their career, especially career that fetches quick employment, lines up different stages of functional positions, or have inherent opportunity for self-employment at certain stage of one’s life. We do not think that this large crowd of Nigerian graduates should be denied necessary assistance or help that they need in order to achieve their goals.
With all humility, we wish to canvas for inclusion of higher specialist private Institutions in the scheme of things in Nigeria’s education industry; it is time for education authority to begin to develop specific space for specialist private institutions inclusion in the scheme of things.” – Prof. Chris Onalo,FICA
